Nintendo held another one of its Nintendo Direct presentations this morning and, well, I’m not entirely sure why. They didn’t exactly have a ton of information to impart. That said, there were still a few tidbits that should be of interest to Nintendo fanatics, so hit the jump for a rundown and some new trailers/game footage…

Here’s A Couple Clips From The Confusingly Titled ‘Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite!’

05.16.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Don’t feel bad if you’re not sure what the hell Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite! actually is (aside from a grammatical nightmare). It took me a solid 20 minutes of research to figure it out, but I think I finally have it!

It’s a movie based on Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes the video game (which came out last year). Or who knows, maybe it’s the other way around — all I know is it involves Batman, so I’m going to post about it!

Terrible title aside, the movie(?) looks like it’s going to be pretty charming. Hit the jump for a couple clips…

The Latest ‘Axe Cop’ Trailer Is About Friendship! Also, Killing. Actually It’s Mostly About Killing.

05.16.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Is it July 27th yet? Is the Axe Cop show finally, actually on my TV yet? No? Dammit. Well, at least I have a new Axe Cop trailer for us all to watch while we wait impatiently!

This one is about the value of friendship! Friends are pretty important in the world of Axe Cop, although obviously they take a back seat to killing the guy that killed your friends. That’s the best.

‘Assassin’s Creed IV’: Learn About The Game’s Cranky Protagonist & Pirate History In Two New Trailers

05.15.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Ahoy! I’ve got a couple new Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag trailers for you scurvy dogs! One’s a brief history of the “Golden Age of Piracy” and the other focuses in on the game’s protagonist, Edward Kenway, who seems a lot more, well, bitter than Connor from Assassin’s Creed III. Hopefully he’s also a tad more interesting!

‘Scribblenauts Unmasked’ To Contain Every DC Universe Character Your Nerdy Mind Can Think Of

05.15.13 Written by Nathan Birch

If you’ve never played a Scribblenauts game, well, you really should. The basic conceit of Scribblenauts is that you can type in any noun you can think of, and most of the time it will appear in the game and, ideally, help you solve a puzzle. This can lead to a lot of intentional, and sometimes unintentional ridiculousness.

One of the series’ main drawbacks, aside from the fact the games are E-rated so you can’t solve everything with boobs and poop, is that copyrighted characters are off limit (for obvious reasons). Well that changes with Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventures, which Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell promises will have every DC hero and villain ever. Everyone from Batman, to B’wana Beast to 130 different Green Lanterns. Want to try to solve every puzzle with the Silver Age Legion of Superheroes? Or Grant Morrison’s Seven Soldiers of Victory? Go for it, you nerd.

Raphael To Live Up To His Badass Potential In ‘TMNT: Out Of The Shadows’

05.14.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Traditionally Raphael was the last character you wanted to pick in most of the classic TMNT brawlers — not because he wasn’t cool, but because his puny little sais just didn’t have the reach of Donatello’s Bo or Leonardo’s katana. Well, looks like Raphael may be more of a choice character in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. The game’s latest trailer shows off Raph’s moves, and he certainly seems more badass than the already-showcased Michelangelo.

Hit the jump for some cool, but rude action…

Attention Citizens Of Detroit: Your Giant Robocop Statue Is Almost Done

05.14.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Seemingly forever ago (around two years in Internet time) some guy tweeted a message to the Mayor of Detroit asking why the city didn’t have a statue of Robocop. Back then people tweeting stupid questions to famous and/or important people was still kind of a novel thing, so the Internet latched onto the idea and decided to make a Detroit Robocop statue a reality. A Kickstarter went up, over $65,000 was raised and we haven’t heard much since.

Until now! Yesterday the guys behind the Robocop Kickstarter sent out a bunch of photos of a mostly-done statue, and well, it’s quite the damn thing. For starters, it’s around 10-feet-tall (I’m fairly certain Robocop’s codpiece being right at eye level was an intentional design choice). Hit the jump for some pics…

Capcom Dramatically Points To A Fall Release For ‘Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies’

05.13.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Almost a year ago we brought you the news that Ace Attorney 5 was happening and that Phoenix Wright’s latest game would be coming to North America. Then all went silent for months on end, leading some to believe a North American localization of the game might be in jeopardy.

Well, today Capcom finally broke their silence, giving the game an official title, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, and a vague release date of “this fall”. They also released a spiffy new English trailer. Hit the jump for that…

5 Games You Want Coming Out This Week (May 13th – 19th)

05.13.13 Written by Nathan Birch

Keeping track video game releases isn’t as easy as it once was — the volume of games released each week is constantly expanding, and they’re spread over a mind-boggling array of platforms (consoles, PC, Mac, handhelds and mobile).

Well, I’m here to make things a little easier on you. Every week I’ll rattle off five games I think you should check out. These articles are not meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week — think of them as a nice rounded tasting menu. Each week I’ll try to highlight several games from different corners of the gaming landscape (handhelds, consoles, indie, PC, you name it) then finish up with a “Pick of the Week”.

Hit the jump for the five games you’re going to want to check out this week…
