Tom Coburn’s Angry The Government Spent Money On Video Game Preservation

You may not know Tom Coburn. He’s an evangelical Christian U.S. Senator, and basically a total pendejo. You might remember him from his protest of NBC showing “Schindler’s List” uncut because there was nudity in it, trying to help cover up his friend John Ensign’s affair, and throwing a procedural hissy fit whenever a bill he doesn’t like comes to the Senate, which is often. These are just the highlights, by the way.

Thankfully, he believes in term limits, so he’ll be gone come 2016, but until then, we have to listen to a man who represents a state that collects $1.36 in federal benefits for every dollar in federal taxes it sends out whine about spending.

What’s up his butt? The fact that the government spent $100,000 on video game preservation, among other things.

“Video games, robot dragons, Christmas trees, and magic museums. This is not a Christmas wish list, these are just some of the ways the federal government spent your tax dollars,” Senator Coburn said in the annual report he sends out criticizing government spending. “Over the past 12 months, politicians argued, debated and lamented about how to reign in the federal government’s out of control spending. All the while, Washington was on a shopping binge, spending money we do not have on things we do not absolutely need. Instead of cutting wasteful spending, nearly $2.5 billion was added each day in 2011 to our national debt, which now exceeds $15 trillion.”

Yeah, Tom, a hundred grand is really going to break the federal budget. Of course, you seemed to have no problem with Oklahoma collecting a few million off of Obama’s stimulus plan, so maybe the spending problem starts at home?
