While at the Mexico’s Morelia Film Festival this weekend, Eli Roth talked about his first foray into the world of sci-fi movies, Endangered Species. Here are the important parts from today’s Variety story.
*Roth’s script should be done this month.
*For now, he’s not talking about plot details.
*ES will be filmed back-to-back with Roth’s Grindhouse trailer-turned-feature film Thanksgiving, with ES being on the front burner. As of now, the same actors aren’t planned to be in both films.
*Roth ran the script by his buddy and fellow writer/director Quentin Tarantino, noting “Quentin is the greatest story editor you could have, and I trust him implicitly.”
I’m not a huge Eli Roth fan. I loved Cabin Fever up until the last minute or so. Hostel was okay and Planet Terror was by far the better Grindhouse installment, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do with the sci-fi genre. We’ll keep you posted as more details come out.
One other interesting bit of news from the Variety article is that Roth’s working with Wu-Tang’s RZA on a kung-fu movie called The Man With The Iron Fist. Should be awesome!

Robert Rodriguez directed Planet Terror not Eli Roth.
