Yesterday, several sites were in an uproar over a quote Zachary Quinto made during an interview with Wired Game Life. The quote suggested he wouldn’t do anything Star Trek related for two years, which would interfere with the sequel’s release date of June 29th, 2012. Well, it was all a tempest in a teapot (and a fiddle-dee-dee and Bob’s your uncle), because io9 found this on Quinto’s blog:
obviously i will be a part of any upcoming films… reprising my role as spock. what i meant was that in the meantime i won’t be making any public appearances related to the franchise – or doing any more auxiliary projects pertaining to the trek universe. i will be focusing my efforts on other projects [Ed.- sex with guys] and preparing to shoot the next film [Ed. - please let it be a sex tape] - which will be released [Ed.- buspockke!] in june of 2012… two years from now. hence the no trek for two years remark. worry not trekkers. it was a misunderstanding of context. i am not spock. but i am spock. all at the same time.

Yeah, that quote he made I am NOT Spock and I am Spock, very clever. He took that right from the two books that Leonard Nimoy wrote. Yes, I know I am going to get a bunch of people responding to my comment and they are going to say “DUH!”

I think Zachary was “very” successful at carrying on the Spock Torch… I’m an Old Treckie dating back to the original TV series and it is my opinion that Zack did an outstanding job of portraying Spock as I viewed him from years past… job well done… I look forward to his future portrayals of Spock…
Quinto is fine as Spock just please please please fix the Enterprise, the primary hull is fine but the secondary is a mess and so are some of the interiors–come on, giant cavernous 20th century warehouse spaces inside a starship?! There’s an alternate design on the Web that looks great for the old Enterprise, updated but respectful of the original. ST needs some production design attention folks!
