KATE BECKINSALE AND VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES IN SPACE

Len Wiseman (Mr. Kate Beckinsale) is returning to direct the fourth installment of Underworld (there was a two and three?). Variety printed that the film will be 3D, like everything else now apparently, and they also confirmed the long-running rumor that the film will be set iiiiiiiin spaaaaaace.  Vampires battling Werewolves in space?  I don’t know; it needs something.  Can we throw in some zombie unicorns and a time-travelling DeLorean and a jive-talking badger and also Kate Beckinsale in a leather catsuit?  How about just the last one?

Kate Beckinsale will in fact be starring in Underworld 3D, assuming she can’t work her way out of the deal. What do I mean? Well, sources tell us she’s trying to find a way out of the film — or at least have a smaller role in order to “pass the torch” to one of her kindred (yes, she has not one, but two daughters at this point). With a plan to release the film in theaters on January 21, 2011, production needs to commence soon. [BD via io9]
