AMC To Give Us At Least 6 Episodes Of Walking Dead

Written by Jon Gutierrez / 03.30.10

The Walking DeadAMC has greenlit six episodes of their adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic The Walking Dead, so at least we’ll be getting that much before the suits wash their hands of it for “not getting it.”

Frank Darabont will be writing and directing the pilot, but there’s no word on whether he’ll be involved with any of the other episodes apart from being executive producer. The show will premiere during AMC’s horror marathon Fearfest in late October.

So far, the only casting for the series has been for the character Shane, who’ll be played by Jon Bernthal, who’s sadly best known for playing Al Capone in Night at the Museum 2, although he was also a character on Eastwick, for all the good that did him.

The rumored frontrunner for lead character Rick Grimes is Jonny Lee Miller, who was the lead in ABC’s law show Eli Stone. So far, there’s nothing about this show that sounds wrong…which probably means someone’s going to screw it up somewhere down the line.
