Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, AKA Slaybraham Lincoln (awesome book trailer here), has already been optioned for a film to be co-produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Wanted).
The off-beat novel was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, famous for the surprise literary hit of 2009: ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.’ That book is already in development to be a motion picture, with Natalie Portman set to co-produce and star. Grahame-Smith will write the screenplay for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ so hopefully it maintains that mix of blood, gore and steam-powered engines that audiences are loving. [InsideMovies]
On the one hand, I can usually dig stuff Burton and Bekmambetov do. On the other hand, the last movie they co-produced together was “9″, the animated film that never played in a theater within 90 miles of here. Then again, our radio station (note the absence of the plural) is still playing Ace of Base like it’s a current band. Maybe we’ll get “9″ at our theater next week. And soon, the cure for polio. *fingers crossed, legs atrophied*
