Despite the presence of all those battle-ready Vikings, Kenneth Branagh is saying the Thor set isn’t as brutal or nasty as the New York Daily New’s gossip blog Gatecrasher recently reported. Gatecrasher had cited an unnamed on-set source as saying that Anthony Hopkins, playing Thor’s dad, Odin, was peeved with the acting talent of the actor playing Thor, Chris Chemworth.
“Anthony has not tried to hide his disapproval of Chris’ acting skills,” the insider says. “Chris is definitely the least-experienced actor on set, but he’s trying. He respects Anthony a great deal, and it looks like he’s trying to grin and bear all of his criticism.”
Which admittedly sounds reasonable, because if I was Anthony Hopkins, I’d be pissed at anyone who wasn’t as good an actor as I was…which would be everyone.
However, Branagh’s told the LA Times that the rumors were false and the Times quoted Hopkins as saying:
“I am having the time of my life making Thor with Ken and Chris. They have made every day immensely fun and collaborative, and we’re all puzzled that someone would fabricate a story suggesting otherwise. I’m proud to say that Thor has been one of the great experiences of my career.”
