Bruce Willis Joins Time Travel & Hitmen Film Loopers

Written by Jon Gutierrez / 05.19.10

Action film geekery and Sci-Fi geekery don’t join forces as often as they could…or should. (My theory is a lingering fear over unleashing another Timecop.) So, it’s great news that Deadline is reporting that Bruce Willis has joined Rian Johnson’s time-travel/hitmen movie Looper.

The only unbelievable thing about it isn’t the time travel…but rather the fact that young Bruce will be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Bruce Willis was the kid from 3rd Rock From the Sun? It’s much harder to believe than violations of causality.

Johnson described the film to Cinematical:

Looper is a time travel movie, set in a near future where time travel doesn’t exist but will be invented in a few decades. It’s pretty dark in tone and involves a group of killers (called Loopers) who work for a crime syndicate in the future. Their bosses send their targets hogtied and blindfolded back in time to the Loopers, and their job is to simply shoot them in the head and dispose of the body. So the target vanishes from the future and the Loopers dispose of a corpse that doesn’t technically exist, a very clean system. Complications set in from there.

Sounds promising. Now it’s just speculation, but what do you want to bet Bruce is sent back in time to be killed by his younger self? Frankly, I’d love it if the tables were turned and Bruce shoots Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the face.

And no, I’m not talking about the movie anymore.
