A month ago Vince reported on the five guys Sony had narrowed down the Spider-Man role to. Now BlueSkyDisney is saying Sony chose Josh Hutcherson (Zathura, Journey to the Center of the Earth). They are also saying the villain will be the Lizard. Hopefully this isn’t another Logan Lerman style rumor. On the one hand, Cinema Blend reports that the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth films this fall with Hutcherson in the lead, which may conflict with Spider-Man, and Hutcherson didn’t seem sure he had the Spider-Man role when SuperHeroHype talked to him just this morning. On the other hand, LatinoReview offers a confirmation:
I’ve known Josh was the main guy for a while, but couldn’t report it. [...] Honor is usually spot on when he has a scoop, and from the news I had heard a while ago, Josh Hutcherson is 99.9% your new friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. [LatinoReview via Geekosystem]
Dang. I was hoping Donald Glover would get it, if for no other reason than to let this scene play out:

he’s like a younger version of Grayson from Cougartown… what? its a pretty funny show!
So it’s not Donald Glover?
*empties care cup*
I’m going to name my first son Grayson. Why, you ask? Oh, because I want him to be gay. Why, you ask? Because the gays make money bitches! The gays make money. Seriously, have you ever met a poor homosexual? If nothing else, they have porn and that shit is lucrative. You have no idea.
FAIL. Garfield got it.
