Hey, remember the shoes in Back to the Future 2 that laced themselves and weren’t a hoverboard? Nike has filed a
as they were in the movie universe (which also had hoverboards and is therefore superior). The Nike patent even includes LEDs and a charging stand, which would be even cooler if they were attached to a hoverboard.
For an actual working model of self-lacing shoes, look no further than Blake Bevin at Instructables. She used an arduino, motor shield, force sensor, servo motors, 9V battery, zip ties, and other assorted components to make a version of self-lacing Nikes with junk in the trunk. They automatically lace up when pressure is applied to the insole, as seen in this video:

Very cool. I am a bttf fanatic. Home they come in a different set off colors though. Do you really have to have the servo motor where it is though? And could You make it smaller? I think I could help..
