Heatvision reports director Marc Webb has narrowed down the casting choices for Spidey’s love interest in the Spider-Man reboot to these (and maybe a few more) actresses. The good news is she won’t be playing Mary Jane. The love interest in the film is going to be a different girl from the comics, possibly Gwen Stacy. Whoever it is, as long as she doesn’t sing I can accept it.
Heatvision says the top contenders they can mention are Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, and Lily Collins. They also list Teresa Palmer, Emma Roberts, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as possibilities, and point out that all six of these actresses have only done readings and meetings so far, not screentests or any negotiations.
You can see all the listed candidates in the picture above, courtesy of Blastr (with slight alterations). Top row, left to right, are Lily Collins, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Emma Roberts. Bottom row, left to right, are Ophelia Lovibond, Teresa Palmer, and Imogen Poots.
And for the straight guys, let me simplify this: yes, oh hells yeah, hell yes, yes despite the bangs, like the fist of an angry god, and hell yes even with the silly name.
