Christian Bale recently sat down with Filmdrunk-favorite Ben Lyons for an interview where he dropped this piece of news to ruin my morning: “The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless Chris says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.” I don’t believe it. DAMN IT. Come on, guys, just a few more? This is the worst I’ve ever felt. Oh well, I guess it’s not a big deal.
Now that the Kübler-Ross joke is out of the way, here’s another update on The Dark Knight Rises. Michael Caine told Empire he’s getting the script next January, starts shooting in May, and finishes in November. Check out the video below, where Bale talks about his method of picking scripts, which seems very unique by Hollywood standards: he actually reads them. I know, right? Crazy. But get this: after he actually reads the script, he picks the ones he thinks are good. What the hell, man? Garfield part 3 (Garfi3ld: 2 Fast 2 Furry-ous) isn’t going to get made if people in Hollywood start adopting that kind of attitude.
Oh, look at me, mister fancy actor who reads the script first, da da da da da. OH, GOOD FOR YOU.

He did say that, but it was more in the vein of how he had to approach playing the role in order to keep it fresh. It sounds like he’s open to playing Batman again if Nolan asks him.
And I thought Ben Lyons had passed away. Now MY Thanksgiving is ruined.
