What you see above is a new Transformers toy sure to go over well in the UK, where “spastic” is a pejorative term for the handicapped. Oh hell and it’s a “Stunticon” too. Why don’t they just name it Flaily-arms Growthdisorderbot the Stunticon? Go all in.
This certainly isn’t the first time a big movie franchise hasn’t checked the slang implications of their product before releasing it. Remember when Brits kept laughing during pivotal scenes of The Last Airbender because characters kept calling each other “benders“? Good times.
Meanwhile in Asia, when toy makers name their creations, they really don’t mince words:

Who cares?? If we were to look into every word and term that was hurtful to some specific group of people some where, this toy would be named “Transforming Bad Guy Robot toy #4,356,759″. Seriously, we have to stop giving a crap about people’s feelings, and hope they will be grown up enough to accept it and move on. Ridiculous.
being english I must say there isn’t any other meaning behind spastic than being a pretty commmon, offensive term for handicapped people. It would be like a british toy being sold in america called Spic or Wetback.
