Javier Bardem Was Superman

Something good happened on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night.  No, he didn’t announce his move to the eight o’clock spot so Conan could take his place.  He had Javier Bardem on and unearthed some old clips where Bardem played a clumsy Superman on Spanish television station Televisión Española (TVE) . . . pardon the redundancy.  In the second clip below Bardem explains:

“I had to get up at 6 A.M. — that was in the eighties — and put that thing on and I was like ‘Do I really want to be an actor?’”

Bardem made appearances from 1989 to 1990 on “La Tele De Tu Vida”, which I think was hosted by Pepe Navarro but (as has been previously established) I am not very good with Spanish.  Speaking of which, I’m pretty sure “Le Tele De Tu Vida” translates as “The Telephone Rings, R2D2 is Calling”. Man, I loved that show.
