“So they said this is about ‘feminism’ or whatever.”
A couple days ago NBC picked up David E. Kelley’s spec script for “Wonder Woman”, which casts Diana as “a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life” . . . ugh. Now TVLine is reporting McG is the “odds-on favorite” to direct the pilot. Really? I know he directed Charlie’s Angels so by some convoluted Hollywood logic that means, “He directed a movie with crime-fighting girls in it, so he must understand feminism hurr durr derp.” So it sounds like the Amazon with powers matching Superman is going to be a business gal just trying to have it all (will she or won’t she hook up with Gerard Butler?), while the director throws in plenty of unnecessary bullet time shots where you can almost see up her sensible gray business skirt. Also, McG’s been headbutted by Bill Murray, so he’s got that going for him, which is nice.
Sidenote: A couple days ago BK commented, “I plan to remix Bender’s ‘Single Female Lawyer’ theme song with the Wonder Woman 70′s theme song, just as soon as I sleep off this roofie colada.” It sounded like a great idea (especially the part about a roofie colada right about now), so I made this:

Single Female Lawyer
Fighting for her client,
Wearing sexy miniskirts,
And being self-reliant.

McG directed the Pilot for Chuck and he’s Exec Producer on Supernatural, Human Target, Nikita and maybe a couple other shows. That probably has a lot to do with him being in the running to direct the WW pilot. I gotta say, I don’t hold out much hope for it being any good based on the description of how they want to portray the character.
He also directed Shasta McNasty, so, you know…
I might have made that up. It just seemed right.
Classic Jake Busey misdirection.
NBC is only going to ruin Wonder Woman with the laim version ofn her they are coming up with. They should just call it “Vigilante Woman”.
