If you haven't been paying attention to what's going on in Wisconsin, let me summarize the situation in a totally objective (read: not objective) way. Governor Scott Walker turned to the state's teachers and some other public workers and said, "We need to save money, so you have to take pay cuts and benefit cuts and pension cuts and we're also taking away your collective bargaining rights." And then the unions were like, "We'll take the pay cuts, and the higher out-of-pocket health insurance costs, and the pension cuts, and every financial concession you asked for, but we're keeping our collective bargaining rights." And then the politicians were all like, "You people are so unreasonable. Why won't you compromise and give us every single thing that we asked for?" And scene.
Anyhoo, here are 23 more geeky protest signs:

So nice of that pleasant-looking bear to offer free tutoring to Governor Scott Walker's kids. [via]

It looks like teachers spend far too much time on 4chan.
1) This is a state issue. Not a Federal one.
2) “Elections have consequences”
3) liberal maturity : [www.youtube.com]
Dude, people are immature. Not liberals, not conservatives (yelling “Liar” during the President’s speech?), just people. Each side pulls the same dirty tricks.
I took this one, and I support it ever more than the unions.

I find it hard to care about the unions getting shafted.
At least until I take my blue pills.
From the Washington Examiner? Figures. The state republicans are union busting and trying to negate workers rights, just like their corporate owners want them to. The Teachers Unions and unions in general are a Teabagger’s strawman.
DP your number three is just stupid; take a look at any teabagging protest. Like Taco_Jones says; any position has jerks.
/”The Dude Does Not Abide” chick is pretty hot for Wisconsin.
What a bunch of douche libs
when will you douche bags learn that slideshows are OVER.
Thanks for the show, I like seeing the signs.
Also, Choco and vendetta should get a thesaurus, “douche” is getting to be tediously overused.
Watcher, that is a shame, since it is so descriptive. Should we go back to douche nozzle? Although nozzle could have positive connotations if you are a positive thinker. Anyway here they are: cleanse, flush , drench, eject, expel, flood, hose, rinse, swab, wash. Don’t think any of those’ll work.
Choco, so well put, thought out, and intelligent, even witty.
“Elections have consequences,” understood the way pro-Walker people seem to be using it, apparently should have meant Republicans agreeing to everything Obama wanted after the 2008 Democratic landslide.
I demand to see the Dudes Birth Certificate. TP, TP, TP for Cornholio’s bunghole.
I find it not at all unreasonable to ask that these union thugs pay a portion of their healthcare and pay into their pension fund. After all, who is the beneficiary? They are. I hope this is the death knell for public sector unions. Government workers are already difficult to get rid of thanks to the government imposed work rules. Unionization only adds insult to injury. Government workers should get paid 50 to 75 percent of what comparable private sector jobs pay. Paying them twice as much only leads to more bloated government which has to be paid for by the people most of whom are working in private industry. Duh!
Well said Barry. Now fit that on a courage wolf sign and get out there.
There shouldn’t be public sector unions anyway. We have representative government, meaning people should be able to change the direction of government at the polls. With public sector unions, you have vast swaths of employees who are basically uncontrollable and do what they want. Our elected officials have less and less leeway. Private sector unions are fine, but the market and free choice just currently have them out of favor.
So, where all the Democrats who shamelessly used the Giffords’ shooting to call for more civility?
Schoolteachers – Bad. Bankers – Good. Get Illegal Mexicans To Teach Public High School – Great Long Term Solution. Woohoo Tea Party Yeah!!!!
@Moose
Unrelated but if you think the chick with the dude sign is hot, then you seriously need to drop you sterotypes about Wisconsin. People are fucking stupid. “DUR HUR COWS n GRAZZ EVURWHUR HUR DUR!”.
@Domnique Contaone; easy there butch; just giving Wisconsin some grief, no need to get your granny panties in a bunch.
P.S. I guess I should add to my Wisconson stereotype that they can’t take a frickin’ joke. That makes it even better.
This particular union (apparently made up of thug teachers) has given in to all cost reduction demands (very thuggish behavior) including retirement packages. The remaining portion is collective bargaining being outlawed for any public workers. Teachers don’t get paid “twice as much” as an equivalent private sector job, most get less when you reset for required education. The union is there so that school districts can’t run over individuals who have put their lives into teaching our next few generations and then get screwed if they don’t have an organization to back them up.
It’s funny how with what just happened with Wall Street and the Banking industry how a small TEACHERS union is big bad boogie man. If you want to see a fraud and a rip-off take a look at the money that disappeared from your 401K the last few years, or if you had to sell a house.
I mean seriously; you don’t get into teaching for the money, the ones I know buy supplies out of their own pocket and bring in food for the poor kids. OK, you’re right, they are thugs.
@Moose – You’re correct that the teachers themselves should not be villified. However, I will continue to believe that the union organizations are rotten to the core based on my past dealings with them.
@Dave; I agree that in several instances unions have become too large, too powerful and full of themselves and have removed merit from the equation. However in today’s market they just can’t do that anymore. California is a good example of pensions being at the same level as working compensation (out of hand) for fire fighters, police, and correction personnel; that has got to be moved to more of a 401K or other type of shared group retirement plan.
They guy that said “Government workers should get paid 50 to 75 percent of what comparable private sector jobs pay.” To me is making an idiotic statement; if you can’t compete with private sector compensation (total compensation) you will not have quality people whoteach our children, plan our cities, fight our fires, etc. A limited union is one of the few ways to get this done. There is a direct correlation between teacher compensation and test scores, graduation rates, etc. However I get it that those things are not important to some people.
Teachers Bad, Foxnews Good. Derp Derp Derpidy Derp. Tea Party Yeah!!!!!
i think its about time they finally get jumped down to a pay scale they truly diserve!!!!!!!!! GO SCOTT GO!!!!!!!!!!!
@Tony; funny how’d you’d say that with improper capitalization and misspellings. Are trying to be ironic?
