As you know, Henry Cavill, some random British guy, is the new Superman, which means the next Bond is an American (because that’s how it works, England, and we don’t want to hear any whining). What you may not know is that director Zack Snyder is apparently sorta creepy.
Cavill’s first big interview about the part, in Entertainment Weekly, hits stands soon, and, of course, it’s been leaked all over the place. The creepy thing is that Cavill and the other actors were forced to audition in a replica of Christopher Reeve’s suit.
That’s…that’s just kinda weird, dude. At least it wasn’t the actual, original suit.
Oh, fun fact: Cavill was cast in the J.J. Abrams scripted “Superman” that didn’t blow up Krypton, made Superman do kung-fu while flying, Lex Luthor is an CIA agent, made a really tasteless attempt to make Jimmy Olsen gay, and outraged the fans so much that the studio pretended it didn’t happen because McG was too scared to fly over an ocean for huge amounts of money.
So, really, Cavill dodged a bullet there, huh?

Creepy would be wearing Reeve’s actual, unlaundered, superman suit. I don’t see how a replica is creepy. Granted the updated suit from Returns is better for a “real world” setting, but the Reeve’s suit is spot on to what Superman wears in the comics. Why make a brand new costume for an adution when you can just make a copy of something that’s already good enough? I don’t think it’s that weird to want to see the actors in the suit to get an idea of how they’d look in costume.
I mean it’s not like Reeves was wearing the suit when he had his horse riding accident, or wore it around the house in his wheelchair… or did he?
Would it have been creepy to have Christian Bale try on a replica costume from the Keaton/Burton franchise? Without bat nipples, of couse. With nipples would have been creepy.
I don’t know, man, yeah, it’s a replica, but it’s still kind of a dead dude’s pants, you know?
Oh I know. And that’s why I want my own pair.
Not really understanding the reference to a American playing Bond in the new Bond movie….actually I get it, it’s just it really doesn’t make much sense…I mean, Superman isn’t really american now, is he? I mean when you really want to get down to it, Superman, at least fictionally is from a whole other planet (so he is more than just an illegal alien) and not only that, one of the creators of Superman is Canadian.
Tired of hearing the dumb argument of an American should play superman.
Superman isn’t American? Dude constantly brings violence and death to the world, spends his days rocking a suit, he’s a journalist for a sensationalist newspaper, and he has the power to save everyone but he never finishes the job and is always inviting further aggression. Superman is American as it gets.
