Getting to read a script early is an unwritten perk of being in a hotly anticipated film like The Dark Knight Rises. After all, bat-nerds through the world are clamoring to learn how it’ll turn out, but the actors get to know before anyone else…unless Christopher Nolan won’t let them read it.
Yep, to keep the ending from being leaked online, Nolan isn’t letting the actors read the ending of the film, but he will tell them out loud. Gary Oldman let this info slip during a red-carpet interview with Absolute Radio. He said:
Well, first of all to get into the production office, you have someone meet you and then there’s keys in various doors that lock. The script you read in the production office, and there is no ending to the script because he [Nolan] tells you the ending so that it doesn’t leak and get out, and people spoil it on the internet. It’s very, very tight security.
It makes sense, if you think about it. Chances are the actors aren’t going to spoil things, but the same can’t be said for any of the actors’ agents, managers or various entourage hanger-ons who might leak bits from a script that’s just lying around a dressing room. Here’s hoping Nolan can keep a fairly tight lid on it for as long as he can. (And what do you want to bet that he tells the ending in that ridiculous Christian Bale bat-voice?)
Oldman’s whole (not too informative) interview after the jump!
