ElfQuest Gets Four Minutes Of Hot Elf Adaptation

Make ouuuuuut.

Richard and Wendy Pini started self-publishing a comic in 1978 called ElfQuest which followed a group of Elves who were, um, on a quest.  Oh, “ElfQuest”.  I get it.  Anyway, the comic (all of which is free to read online) has garnered a large fan base in the more than three decades it’s been going.  Warner holds the rights to an ElfQuest feature film, but nothing has been produced yet.  Directors Stephanie Thorpe (above, left) and Paula Rhodes were talking about ElfQuest on Twitter when they hit upon the idea of making their own fan trailer since Warner hasn’t done anything with the property.

Thorpe and Rhodes assembled a cast and crew of Web series veterans to create Elfquest: A Fan Imagining, and surpassed its fundraising goal of $5,000 with the help of the Pinis themselves, who sold original artwork to support the production. Fans of original Web series like Thrope’s Night of the Zombie King or co-star Jessica Rose’s Lonelygirl15 will recognize many of the performers in A Fan Imagining, who, it must be said, look stunning in their big budget cosplay. The trailer is after the jump along with some production stills. They made all the costumes by hand and even cast actresses who sort of looked like the elves in the comics.  Some of the scenes were clearly storyboarded to match panels from the comic as well.  It probably won’t hurt their cause that I thought this was the lead in to some soft core porn the first time I watched it.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  I believe the industry term for that sort of thing is “Keeblering”.
