If you were worried that The Dark Knight Rises might be running low on villains, you can relax. Matthew Modine has signed on to play another baddie, joining Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman and Tom Hardy’s Bane. Which is great, because if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the 80′s Bat-movies, it’s that the more bat-villains the better.
Modine’s been cast as “Nixon,” described as “a politician and a key villain” according to a source quoted by Showbiz 411. The key villain part is particularly troubling. The previous two Nolan Bat-films each had a bunch of minor villains (Does anyone even remember that Zsasz was in Batman Begins?), but if they have to split up plot time between several major villains, that could be trouble. After all, it’ll definitely be hard to get any villain to top Heath Ledger’s Joker, but that’s certainly not going to be helped by giving each villain less time for their role.
Let’s just hope Bane gets more time than the tiny, mute part he got in Batman & Robin.

I hope you’re being facetious, because I felt like that’s what killed the franchise. Same with Spidey.
Holy shit, when did Young Val Kilmer get stuck quantum leaping into Old Jeff Bridges?
The 80′s??? THE 80′s???????????
Only Keaton’s Batman (1989) occurred in the 80′s. The butchering occurred in the 90′s, maaannn (or dude).
Also…wake up and smell the poop, Protoguy. Although inaccurate, the 80s-movie quote was ripe with sarcasm.
You’re assuming that Catwoman is a pure villian when she could easily be used in a mostly love interest role.
I named my sons Matthew and Modine.
Don’t forget George Lopez as the sassy half-man half-chihuahua, El Furrible!
This better not be like the Spider-Man 3, with multiple villains and shittiness
