Just a couple days ago we heard HBO’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods would be six seasons with ten to twelve episodes per season and $3 to $4 million allotted to each hour-long episode to pay for awesome special effects. If you were worried they might not be able to stretch the book into sixty to seventy-two hours of badassery, there’s fantastic news. Gaiman tweeted:
And for those asking, No, 6 years of AMERICAN GODS on TV doesn’t mean just the 1st book. It means I need to write the 2nd now, for a start.
I’m hoping “for a start” opens up the possibility for a series of books. Although, as Bleeding Cool points out, there are several small sections of the first book with enough story between the lines to make for entire episodes of a TV series. Hell, we’re writing a 600 page epic about Gaiman’s last ten @ replies on Twitter. Wanna read it? Hey come back.

Three seasons per book? If the second is anything like the first, I think that works.
Oh, and…
