You know, Marvel has been talking about doing lots of movies, but long, bitter experience has taught us all most of them probably aren’t going to happen. Just like DC will never actually adapt James Robinson’s “Starman” or bring “Sandman” to the screen, some movies are just too weird to make. Except, apparently, “Doctor Strange”.
Supposedly, the screenwriters have finished a draft and Marvel’s currently shopping it around to directors. Sadly, nobody has the shortlist of directors Marvel wants, but we’re assuming it’s fairly short on directors who’d actually do the trippy artwork of Ditko’s classic run justice. Seriously, a Terry Gillam or Alejandro Jodorowsky Doctor Strange would be absolutely brilliant. Also probably completely impossible to market except to that small intersection between comic nerds and film nerds, but they need love too.

Alejandro Jodorowsky is worth a plus 1 fo sho
That TV ad is 10000X better than any modern movie adaptation’s crappy Photoshopped-by-a-4-year-old poster could ever hope to be.
But a Jodorowsky DR STRANGE would take 5 years to develop, cost over 300 million dollars, and eventually die in development hell. But maybe he’d stunt cast Sadao Watanabe as the Ancient One or something.
