If you thought the changes George Lucas made to the original Star Wars trilogy were silly and unnecessary, we have good news: someone improved on LucasArt’s “improvement” of the scene where Vader hurls the Emperor to his death to save Luke. I’m going to level with you: I’ll take this version of this scene over that “Noooooo” bullsh-t any day:
“I am Palpatinholio. I need midichlorians for my bunghole!” — arklop5

Yes, Star Wars / Beavis and Butthead crossover fan art exists. Duly noted, internet.

This article is ridiculous. If you don’t like the changes, stick to the old version. It’s that simple. Instead, you seem to have this need to get worked up over a bunch of movies.
Yes, but the idea is I can’t have those old movies on Blu-Ray to share with future generations, I need to rely on old VHS tapes with the label faded and a crack in the plastic.
So here’s the thing:
Since May 25, 1997 you’ve probably been saying how much you hate the Special Editions, and how George has raped your childhood, etc. I’ve seen it. You guys, and those like you, calling for George’s head on a pike, calling him various names, proclaiming your undying hatred for George Lucas.
So what the hell do you care if he changes the Special Editions. You hated them, anyway.
And then here’s the second thing I don’t get: You scream about how much you hate Lucas, how much you hate the SE, and what a terrible, horrible, greedy person George Lucas is… And then you ask him to do you a favor and release the original theatrical editions on Blu-ray?
Generally speaking, people aren’t real keen to give you what you want after you’ve spent a decade-and-a-half calling them names and broadcasting how much you hate them.
Just some food for thought.
Um, no, you’re missing the point, there is no way to see the original versions of these movies on a decent format. The only way to see the “Star Wars” I saw in the theater as a kid is some sort of bootleg laser disc copy. Da Vinci said “no work of art is ever completed, just abandoned.” Lucas never got this information, he will never abandon his only decent movies, he will just keep monkeying with them until they are crap. Lucas has always said he won’t release the original versions, so I don’t know what this “he won’t do it because you weren’t nice” crap is, he was never gonna do it.
Rosie, your comment is ridiculous. If you don’t like the article, don’t read it. It’s that simple. Instead, you seem to have this need to get worked up over other people’s opinions.
Don’t you have to read an article before knowing whether you’ll like it or not? Just saying….
Rosie, one cannot “stick to the originals” because they do not exist, and are not available to the public.
Actually all the original completely unedited versions came out on DVD a few years ago, you had to buy the 2-disc sets with the stupid Special Edition versions, too, but whatev you got the original non-raped versions, too. Quit bitching, Blu Ray is not that much better than DVD. Just don’t buy them, then Lucas doesn’t get more money for rape, you aren’t upset and we don’t hear you complain. Everybody wins.
Ha ha! Butthurt failtards! BONG!!!
(BTW, that video clip just completed my life for the past 90 seconds.)
