“Ghost Rider’s” Blackout Has Nothing To Do With the Comics?

Oh, thank Zarathos.

If you were wondering, Blackout was basically a wannabe vampire who escaped from an early ’90s hair metal concert and carried around his own darkness. He’s one of Marvel’s continual second-stringers who just doesn’t work as a bad guy because his big power is turning off the lights. Ooooh, scary.

Anyway, Neveldine/Taylor liked his look, but didn’t bother to read up on him, so they’ve made him into something completely different. They don’t really get into what that something IS, precisely, but since his name is “Blackout” and they call him “a foil to Ghost Rider”, we’re guessing there’s some fire-dimming action/Nic Cage punching in this movie.

Either that or he knocks people unconscious with his breath. Either or.
