Image Comics Now Available Digitally Day-And-Date?

And here….we…go!

Boy, that didn’t take long: a month after DC committed to digital distribution on the same day as print, Image has caved and will be doing day-and-date as well. But, of course, this can’t be simple. Why would we have that?

Image will be going day-and-date on two platforms: Comixology, which DC prefers (for some reason), and Graphic.ly, but only Graphic.ly will be getting all titles day-and-date. Comixology will have “top titles”, which we’re assuming are “the titles that have a TV show or something.” They already sell “Invincible” and “The Walking Dead” day-and-date on Comixology. Oh, and in a really good idea, Image’s Facebook page will become a digital store.

All this, of course, raises the question of who’s going day-and-date next, and, of course, how long it’ll be before every publisher has taken the plunge. I’m skeptical it’s going to be as fast as everyone thinks: Marvel is going to hold out until the bitter, bitter end.
