ABC Studios (owned by Disney, which owns Marvel) has sold an hour-long police procedural TV show based on The Punisher to FOX. Ed Bernero (Third Watch, Criminal Minds), who is a former Chicago police officer, will executive produce the series, for which FOX has already committed to shoot a pilot. Frank Castle has also committed to shoot a pilot if he catches the pilot dealing drugs.
Variety reports the TV version will “focus on NYPD detective Frank Castle, whose alter ego is that of a vigilante seeking justice for those failed by the court system.” So it’s going to be kind of like all of our Law and Order fan fiction, except it will be Frank Castle shooting wrongly-exonerated criminals in the face while dropping grizzled bon mots instead of Sam Waterston. I guess that’ll do.

so it’s Dexter Morgan with a skull T-shirt.
I’m fine with this as long as he’s outed as a vigilante and driven underground by the end of the first season. Also, it’s a given they’ll leave “real” superheroes out of this, but maybe they’ll mention SHIELD? Doubt it. Okay, how about throwing in…uh…Foolkiller? Kingpin? Matt Murdock? You know what? Forget it, this will suck.
Or they could make him a lawyer and rename it Daredevil.
At least it’s going to be pretty hard for it to be worse than the “Blade” television series
Why couldn’t it still be Sam Waterson?
