And the award for the most unfortunate choice of words when discussing a genre property goes to, drumroll please, Robert Kirkman, for this quote:
“…it’s fun for me to look at it as a do-over. I can fiddle with things. I can play George Lucas, if you will, and I can think, ‘Well, what would happen if Shane had lived? How would that change things?’”
OK, OK, we know he’s not going to have a zombie shoot first or anything. But we do find it pretty funny that “George Lucas” is so synonymous with “mucking around with past installments of your plot” that even respected creators can say it. And, just in case the first season wasn’t a big hint, yeah, don’t get too attached to any of the characters. Although it’s not really a surprise the show won’t go to the hugely dark places the comic does; I don’t think HBO would be willing to go as dark as that.

hey guys, I know *everyone* has already seen Walking Dead but how about A FUCKING SPOILER WARNING FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVEN’T??
assholes
Seconded.
Not the first time, either.

The TV show sucks anyways, its too heavyhanded
the kid who plays Carl is a terrible actor and there are sooooooo many unrelatable characters
too much earnest dialog, not enought zombie killing
It’s a spoiler for a decade old comic, not the show. Post could be rewritten to be more clear about what he is talking about or the second half of the quote could simply be lopped off.
HBO? ([en.wikipedia.org])
Thanks Koos_h I saw that and thought I and was very confused as well.
But in terms of the folks crying “Spoilers!”, I get that people watch TV on their own timetable now, but if it is a story about a show you haven’t seen every episode of, especially if the title uses “George Lucas” as an obvious synonym for “going back and changing things that happened on the show,” I think the spoiler is implied in the fact that it is an article about what has happened involving the plot of a show.
Do you read every WarmingGlow.com “Just the bad ass parts” article and get angry it doesn’t have a spoiler warning?
This comment wasn’t meant to be simultaneously preachy and troll-y so sorry if the tone seems that way.
Trust me, it is not a spoiler in any sense. In the show, it’s obvious what happens, and in the comic, it’s obvious what’s coming.
