Kyle Higgins does a pretty solid job on “Deathstroke”. Just check out the first issue, which seems to set up the typical “assassin with a funny support team” dynamic and then, in two pages, completely subverts it.
Ever since, Higgins has tried, and largely succeeded, in turning Deathstroke into DC’s version of Parker: a cold, calculating criminal who you still root for since everybody else is kind of a d-bag or an idiot anyway, and a guy you really don’t to screw over.
But apparently that might not be enough, because it’s all but written in stone Rob Liefeld is going to come on board, and rumor is, he’ll be writing.
We’re a little skeptical that Liefeld is going to write the book. The industry may have forgiven him his ’90s sins artistically, but the facts don’t lie: he hasn’t written a thing in years. We’ll see when the solicits for “Deathstroke” #8 come out, but we hope Higgins gets to continue.

I remember when I was a kid, scooping up all the latest Rob Liefeld books because they were so hyped up. I want to go back and give myself a wedgie.
Thankfully, I was a DC kid, so while you were doing that, I was…watching Superman get turned into Electro. Crap. The ’90s sucked.
Finally Liefield gets to write
DeadpoolDeathstroke the way that he wanted him to be written beforeMarvelHiggins had to go and ruin him by making him all “meta” and “highly entertaining.”Meh. Needs more pouches.
+1
I’m reminded of a great article by another Uproxx writer…
It’s too bad DC waited to push “The Terminator” as a major threat (outside the Titans that is) back before the Arnold/Cameron movie came out and reduced him to “Deathstroke.” Awesome character at times, but a terrible, terrible name.
It’s a remnant from his days starring in snuff porn.
