Jeff Bezos, you know, the Amazon guy? He’s extremely rich, and also…what’s a nice way of saying this, very much interested in cutting-edge exploration. He’s the kind of guy who has a privately funded team of deep sea explorers. And they might have just found a pretty major piece of human history.
Namely, the original rocket engines used to put humanity on the moon.
He’s not getting this for his living room: technically, even though they dumped the thing into the ocean, the rocket is still NASA property. No, Bezos just wants to give it back to NASA so they can put it in the Smithsonian.
Also, he wants you to know that he has guys swimming around on the sea floor as a hobby.

We have relics that are much smaller and much more interesting. At the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, you can actually touch a moonrock! It’s pretty cool when tiny, green veins appear on your finger, and quickly spread up your hand and arm. And when it finally reaches your brain, things start getting REALLY interesting.
