Bulletstorm was one of the best games of 2011, in our humble opinion, but it didn’t sell well, especially on the PC.
The reason, according to Epic Games’s Mike Capps?
“We made a PC version of Bulletstorm, and it didn’t do very well on PC and I think a lot of that was due to piracy. It wasn’t the best PC port ever, sure, but also piracy was a pretty big problem.”
The reason, according to everyone else? The PC port was a mess. When you have to decrypt a few files just to tweak the frame rate and the menus won’t even let you use a mouse, you might want to consider what message that sends to your customer. But go ahead! Keep blaming them!

“I mean we tried to charge them for something that didn’t work and people didn’t. Obviously they stole it instead!”
I’m not really sure if Epic’s PR department has explained to Mike Capps what he sounds like.
Does anyone recall ANY port being good? To me it’s just another four-letter word. Any game worth it’s salt is dedicated to a particular platform (utilizing all its strengths). I even think that exclusive titles (for example, X-box exclusive) are the best of all. Halo. Bioshock (the first one). Top shelf.
On a general note – I thought Bulletstorm was fun, but not boner-inducing. The story was non-existent, the characters forgettable, and the scenery was basic. I mastered about a half-dozen kill techniques, and didn’t feel compelled to learn any more. Tons of grinding – not much more than that.
Personally, I really liked the sheer variety of ways to murder somebody in the game. And also the fact that the game is in a lot of ways a parody of what Epic farts out. I’m glad People Can Fly are getting another job, at least.
It must be great to have something to blame all your mistakes and poor decisions on instead of taking responsibility for your own shitty product. I wish I had that in my office.
“You screwed this up!”
“What? It wasn’t me, it was GOBLINS!”.
It is a poor businessman who blames his customers.
This bullshit is exactly why EA IS THE CHAMPION (at sucking):

LOL forgot that was an epic game ha! But making totally UNSUBSTANTIATED data-less claims of piracy does seem more in EA’s ballpark than Epic’s.
They (the publishers) are getting more and more like Hollywood every day.
Crappy sales of a poorly implemented product getting ya down? Just blame Piracy!
