We all knew this was only a matter of time. Really, it’s surprising Marvel held out this long. But, hey, they at least did it for a special occasion.
“Spider-Men” is a miniseries celebrating Spidey’s 50th anniversary, and it’s not just Miles Morales and Peter Parker. They’re going to drag in damn near everybody, including Gwen Stacy (still alive in Ultimate continuity), because really, forty years of beating Peter with that guilt just isn’t quite enough, let’s twist the knife even more. And apparently the Ultimates are involved too, we’re assuming because universes crossing over is a bad thing.
If nothing else, we have this to say: the book is probably going to be funny. I may not like a lot about Bendis, but one thing I’ll cheerfully admit: dude writes a great Spidey one-liner.

I remember when Joe Q said that if they ever had a crossover between 616 and the Ultimate U they had officially run out of ideas. Granted, everyone has a right to change their minds. But I still think that’s funny. I’m sure this has nothing to do with DC kicking their ass with the new 52. Because Marvel has got nothing of that scale. They’ve just got more of the same. A summer crossover where two groups of superheroes beat the crap out of each other for no reason. It’s sad really.
About the crossover itself, I’ll check it out in trade. I think this will be good because as you said, Bendis writes a good Spidey.
He does. I’ll probably pick up the issues just to see where it goes.
I hope the fact that this is JUST a Spider-Man event means it’ll be a nice, clean 4-5 part story. I can’t stand the “5 core books, plus two dozen perhiperal books” stuff Marvel has been doing with their big events lately.
Bendis whore, right over here. His run on Ultimate Spider-Man shares a three-way tie Robinson’s Starman and Ellis’ Stormwatch/Authority run as one of my favorite runs, which I’m still enjoying with Miles as the new Spidey.
