#2) The Action And Fight Scenes Are Dynamic and Clever
The fact that this is hand-drawn animation really lets the animators cut loose. The fights in this show are genuinely fun to watch, easy to follow, and fast-paced. It’s an action show that isn’t shy about coming up with some genuine action.
#1) The Writing Is Actually Shockingly Good
Seriously, considering this is an attempt to cash in on a dormant franchise from an entertainment conglomerate known for grinding it out, there are some great touches here. Paige may be a bad guy, but she’s obviously more practical and less fanatical than Tesler. Similarly, Beck’s pretty competent, but when he starts thinking about the consequences of his action, he falters.
OK, so it’s not Shakespeare, but it’s pretty engaging stuff, and it looks genuinely worth watching. What do you think?

just watched the first ep. it’s like a cg, aetron flux, and i LOVED it.
It does wear its influences on its sleeve, but hey, those are some great influences.
This animation style reminds me of the Gorillaz videos and the awesome Beatles: Rock Band intro. Same studio perhaps?
As far as I can tell, it’s just credited to Walt Disney Animation, but they may have subcontracted out.
The character designer for the show is Rob Valley, who did both of those. And I’m pretty sure the art director Alberto Mielgo also worked with Valley on the Rock Band piece.
Thanks for clarifying; was too lazy too check, but it’s good to have a signature style. As soon as I saw the characters moving around, my brain immediately flashed on the animated Beatles running from their fans.

True, looks like the date was pushed back a bit. Ah well, keep an eye out for it. If all else fails Disney seems to have a deal to stream the XD shows on Netflix.

The majority of the animation is actually CG, mixed with some 2D hand-drawn shots that are mainly used for close-ups and more detail work.
