For fans of space travel, the last minute abort of SpaceX’s Dragon capsule launch last week was agonizing. Would it actually work?
Well, early this morning, they tried it again, and damn right, it worked.
Dragon, the cargo module, still needs to go through control checks and tests to make sure it isn’t going to wreck the ISS, but the point is, Falcon works. Dragon will likely work. Private spaceflight is officially viable. NASA is officially freed from rocket science and can get to work on space technologies for mining asteroids and exploring and colonizing other planets instead.
A new era of spaceflight is here. This is, however quietly, a great moment in human history; the beginning of our spread across the galaxy.
Or mining asteroids. Either way, awesome.

But Daaaan…::stamps feet:: the space mining was the most tedious part of Mass Effect 2!
I’m not going to lie, I actually enjoyed it.
I still say, “Fuck you space”
Delos D. Harriman would ask why it took so long.
Count me in with those who believe that the single greatest threat to humanity is humanity staying stuck on this rock.
Yeah, realistically speaking, we need to GTFO.
Get your ass to Mars!!!!!
