Let’s all be shocked there’s a new “Call of Duty” game coming out and that it’s a sequel to “Black Ops”. Now that we’ve totally blown your collective minds, let’s shock you even more by telling you this one will be set in the modern day. What a daring new direction!
Seriously, we get that people like the franchise, but breathless analysis of marketing materials for this franchise at this point is ridiculous. It’s like speculating about whether or not there will be another “Madden”, or whether Nintendo will ever put out another Mario game.
Granted, it is nice that this one will at least not run history through the pet food grinder, but that’s not exactly a key selling point.

Argh this is Activision squeezing more money out of the franchise without actually giving people anything new, there’s little difference between a COD release and DLC ah what the fuck I’ll end up parting with my hard earned when it comes out…
Apparently this version has walking tanks and armed quadrotor drones. I may have to apologize to Activision, because the early leaks are making this game look utterly bugnuts.
Uhhh, I thought all the MW games were modern day?
Durrr…I meant Black Ops. “MODERN Warfare” tacitly implies modern day, doesn’t it?
Black Ops was actually mostly set in the ’60s.
Everything I’ve seen on this looks like Activision just told Treyarch to rip off Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter as much as possible.
BTW the GRAW beta is total badass.
Don’t you mean Ghost Recon Future Soldier beta?
I guess Kotaku got the trailer first. So yay for them.

Not really a surprise.
This friggin’ thing looks like a big steaming pile of Corgi doo-doo. I’m more excited for Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
