“Turnabout Intruder” put up a surprisingly strong fight, but ultimately, “Threshold” moves on to the Foul Four.
And now we’ve got Enterprise’s only chance to hit the Foul Four, but it’s got some stiff competition.
“These Are The Voyages…”
Enterprise, Season 4, Episode 22
Continuing a grand “Star Trek” tradition, the series finale and possibly last episode of “Star Trek” to ever see airwaves (three episodes on this bracket were series finales) is a complete turdburger that destroyed pretty much all the work Manny Coto had put in to try and turn this series around.
“Spock’s Brain”
TOS, Season 3, Episode 1
Spock gets his brain stolen by a bunch of airheads in miniskirts. Possibly the lowest professional moment of everybody involved, with the possible exception of Leonard Nimoy, since he was recording some god-awful albums at the time.

“These Are The Voyages…”
Again, the TOS was experimenting when Sci-Fi was new. Taking chances. It’s not always gonna work (and Spock’s Brain most certainly didn’t work,) but by the time Enterprise rolled around, everyone involved really should have known better.
Spock’s Brain is bad. These Are The Voyages… is an affront to storytelling.
Touch choice, but I have to go with “These Are the Voyages…” On a scale from 1 to 10, it was a negative G. It was the “Batman & Robin” of Star Trek.
Turning your second male lead into a prototype to R.O.B. is obviously not good, but it didn’t kill The Original Series. “Riker & Troi” was so crappy they had to reboot the damn Franchise.
These are the voyages. Spocks Brain was terrible, but like Disco said, it wasnt like they had a book to refer to. Enterprise had a book to refer to and 500+ hours to reflect on, and they shit the bed.
Brains! Brains! I know that it’s fashionable to give the old stuff a pass, but it’s not like we’re talking about cavemen. Actual adult humans came up with Spock’s Brain, filmed and broadcast it. Spock’s Brain is way worse than the non-entity Enterprise was by the end of its run could have ever hoped to be.
I was 14 when Brain first aired and I knew it was a foolish exercise. But a breeding stock of airheads in space minis will always inspire, regardless of how ridiculous and improbable the remote control thing was. I’m voting for Voyages. The final nosedive cannot go unpunished.
Brains!!!!.
Voyages was an insult to a season of Enterprise that was finally making some headway, but it has nothing compared to Scotty wetting his shorts when he sees “ion power”.
These Are The Voyages…(of a franchise killing series)
Pass.
I’m tempted to also say “Pass” as comparing these is an apples and oranges thing, but if I had to choose, I’d say These Are The Voyages is the “worse” (by which I mean least deserving of our fandom sympathy) since it had years of writing and producing experience to draw upon but apparently decided screw it, let’s just dump out a finale and look for other jobs. While they deserve no credit for anything, at least the writers of the original series were TRYING to make a good show. Usually.
Spock’s Brain
Tough call, especially since I feel TOS ought to be represented somewhere in the Final Four – it may have been the first Trek, but sci-fi has a long tradition predating that bubblehead shrilling “You are not Morg! What are you?”, and they shouldn’t be completely excused from suckiness due to historical significance.
But it’s still not the single-worst TOS episode, and I’ll watch Spock’s Brain again just to laugh while These Are The Voyages… can sit on a shelf gathering dust – I never need to see it again.
So on that merit, I’ll vote for These Are The Voyages… despite it meaning Kirk won’t be present for the last rounds (that’s bracketology for you, gang).
