“Justice” put up a hard fight, but despite Fadeproof’s noble hunt for the Wesley Derpface, “Justice” got knocked out and “These Are the Voyages…” enters our Worst Trek Thunderdome.
But who will it face?
“Threshold”
Voyager, Season 2, Episode 10
Probably one of the worst episodes of “Voyager” ever filmed.
“Profit and Lace”
DS9, Season 6, Episode 23
This one has taken me by surprise a little. You guys really hate this episode. Before I thought “Threshold” was a lock for the final two and likely to go for the win, but against this I’m not so sure.
As usual, log your votes in the comments or on Facebook, and on Monday? We decide the worst Trek episode ever aired.

Oh my gosh you guys, it’s really getting hard to split these nails. Both of these are just awful.
Is it racist to hate Ferengi? Because it feels pretty good. Threshold is bizarre and stupid, but I just can’t forgive a shitty premise. Add cross-dressing Quark and all of his idiot relatives and you’re watching a feast of visual chest pains.
My vote goes to Profit and Lace, but to be fair both of these episodes deserve to be spooning Tasha Yar in that black oil pit.
Profit and Lace. Its really getting hard to say why one deserves to beat the other, because now its to the point where there are no redeeming qualities to any of these episodes.
Thanks for mention Dan!
GUUUHHHH. This matchup is so bad, it broke my internet connection the first time I tried responding. This should really be the final contest, because I really don’t see “Voyages” beating out either of them.
I vote for Quark, but predict that Threshold will have a late run and take it to the finals, because it’s Voyager, it sucks, Voyager sucks, and really? Devolution via warp 10? Into salamanders? Jesus, what a cluster.
Threshold
It’s a tough call but I have to go with Profit and Lace. Threshold was an awful episode of a mediocre show, but FemQuark represents something far worse that a poor showing. It’s a display of how the producers of Star Trek throughout the 90s never in the slightest understood what people loved about the series. At heart Star Trek is supposed to be real science fiction. Dramatic, character driven, exploring concepts that are on the edge of what we know, or even beyond what we know.
And then there’s Quark in a dress. Ha ha! It’s so funny! Because he’s greedy and forced to wear a dress! Later on we’ll be doing a show about how human ethnicities are hysterical as well, not like, you know, us.
Hot lizard sex with your Captain.
In the end, the choice would have to be simply an excuse. I can excuse Tom Paris evolving into a lizard. He was afraid so he evolved into a creature that looks like something that hides in a swamp. While he is in evolution terms an insane psychotic monkey and for him to skip to Lizard Man is a little weird, it was after all a forced evolution. Try powering your electric toothbrush with your car battery and see how many teeth you have remaining after you brush your teeth.
There is no excuse for Profit and Lace. No… just….no.
Profit And Lace for the upset – I stand by my argument that an extremely weak Voyager episode isn’t much of an accomplishment in the grand scheme of things, especially against gender-bending Ferengi hijinks.
On a semi-related note: I may make “gender-bending Ferengi hijinks” my new secure password at work, since no normal brain should ever conjure up that phrase.
Also: this has been a fun run, but I’m looking forward to wrapping this thing up – I’m starting to feel a bit seasick…
Next up, *best* episode of Trek! Hello, “In the Pale Moonlight”.
Moonlight? Step away from the pipe my friend.
I’d set that episode up against any other Trek I’ve seen, and a large number of non-Trek shows as well. It was magnificent.
In the Pale Moonlight was fantastic, like Otarin said, you can put that up against anything and it would hold its own.
My favorite is still pretty much any episode with Q, but especially whenever he gets depowered.
So the #1 seeds would be “Balance of Terror”, “The Best of Both Worlds” (both parts 1 and 2), “In the Pale Moonlight” and…is it sad that I cannot think of a good “Voyager” or “Enterprise” episode that would qualify as a #1 seed?
“The Year of Hell” or “Death Wish” would be the only Voyager episodes that could possibly be put into “best” contention that I can think of (yes, I remembered Tuvix, no, I’m not including it).
Year of Hell would have been good if they didnt push a reset button at the end. God forbid anything with some weight and consequence happens on that show the immediately dive go for the big shiny red button.
They had to hit the reset button. The crew was scattered all across Exit 474 of the Delta Quadrant Expressway, the Voyager had so much damage it was starting to look like a car that was stripped for parts in Downtown Detroit and that was before Janeway pulled a Slim Pickens Kamakaze Run with it.
Besides, Star Trek: Escape Pod Convoy doesn’t have a good ring to it.
No, no, no – a “worst” bracket-style competition was really novel and clever; a “best of” would just be trite and lame. Let’s not get greedy.
It’s reassuring that there isn’t a wrong answer here. The only way I’m able to make a decision is by trying to add up the total of bad plot elements, rather than how crappy each element is. By that measure, it’s Threshold that crosses the line.
And yeah, thanks Dan and all the voters. It’s been a little daunting to plow to the end, but soon enough it’ll be like phaser stun and we’ll be good as new. Monday: the Craptasm!
Threshold. Tie goes to the crappier overall series
There’s nothing like hot lizard sex with the captain. Sure, evolution DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY, but really, that’s among the least of the offenses. Profit and Lace is an offense to good TV, but Threshold is an offense to civilization.
Profit and Lace. My evidence? Which would give you the worse trip?
I rest my case.
Quark con titties.
Wow, this is the closest fight I’ve seen. I’ve gotten a LOT of DMs on this one. For those curious, “Profit and Lace” currently has a narrow lead.
DMs instead of joining the discussion with the rest of us assholes? Cowards!
Some people just don’t want to weigh in on a comment thread.
Some people just want to watch the comment thread burn.
For commenting, our vote should at least count for 2 votes or at least 1 and a half.
Threshold to the end, TO THE END!
Quark takes this one to a bad place.
Threshold! But I really don’t understand you voters and still don’t know how on Earth it happened that Justice will now not take the overall win. ??????
Oh yes and best Trek agreed with Otarin above, In the Pale Moonlight. Hands down to infinity.
We should do a Best Trek after this.
Profit And Lace. Nagus please.
