Just for the record, no, we are not doing Edward Cullen, no matter how many DMs you send me about it. Because we all already know how that fight ends; Lincoln collecting skulls like he’s playing “Orcs Must Die!”
Besides, Angelus is a much more credible fight.
At first, it seems like an easy fight. Buffy’s beau has more weaknesses than Cassidy or Morbius. Garlic, decapitation, stakes to the heart, has to be invited in, and so on. Granted, in the Buffy universe, one teenaged girl is supposed to kick all their asses, but we see on a fairly regular basis that well-equipped humans can take on vampires and win.
But, and this is the key thing, usually not solo, and usually not easily. Even guys trained from birth by Watchers to fight vampires when they come across them can have a hard time of it, and even the Slayer usually gets her ticket punched before her twenty-first birthday.
Another problem is that, as we see repeatedly, Angelus can actually hold his own as a hand-to-hand fighter even if he didn’t have vampire strength and speed. His sword skills could make life ugly for Abraham, and fast.

Tough one, but I think I’m going to go with Angelus on this one. If it was just a fight in a ring or even ground with their weapons of choice Lincoln might be able to get the upper hand, but any situation that would require tactical thinking or a prolong fight I would give to Angelus. With or without his soul, he’s one of the smartest vampires in pop culture.
Without seeing Abe’s (in-film) skills, I go with Angelus. He’s arguably the second greatest fighter in the Buffyverse. (1 Buffy, 2/3 Angelus/Faith, 4 Spike)
He routinely dusts vampires without batting an eye, so he’s top of that food chain. Spike has a better record of killing slayers, and he defeated Angel once. But Angelus is on a slightly higher level, imo.

We few, we happy few, we band of non-buggered geeks…. so I haven’t yet seen Abe’s fighting skills either but I’d go with Angelus too. I think that Angelus is a better fighter than Angel though, if that makes sense, but in all honesty I think Spike would be able to have that one good day if he was fighting for Buffy. (outing myself as a Spuffy shipper)
Angelus in a first round feeding. We’ve seen how good Angel is and that’s with that pesky restrictor plate of morals and a sense of right and wrong. You take that away and Honest Abe is the mysterious vampire from Angel’s past that shows up in Sunnydale in Season 2.

The real question is who would have been our 16th president and whether he would have abolished slavery. Lincoln would never have made it into politics if he came up against Angelus.
Restrictor plate of morals. Thats good stuff. Angelus over Abe in 3 dammit but if Blade ever wanted to pick a match to turn into a Mexican standoff this would be the one.
