Marvel, to their credit, knows how to pick a game company. “Marvel Vs. Capcom” is a hilariously light-hearted series that caters to our need to watch super-powered being whale on each other without being overly serious about it. It’s like watching a silly manga.
“Injustice: Gods Among Us” is…not so silly. In fact, despite the fact that the trailer is mostly superheroes knocking each other through walls, the proceedings seem pretty dour.
Maybe that’s because the “Mortal Kombat” team is behind this one, and the MK franchise started taking itself way too seriously around the time it hit the polygon ceiling. Here, watch the trailer and judge for yourself:

my favorite part is when harley quinn and wonder woman hit each other at the end and the screen blows up like it’s namek.
Man, if there was ever a power mismatch, that would be it.
yup. as much as i hate MvC, at least you can rationalize just about every matchup. sure, phoenix wright and the hulk don’t match up well, but 1. phoenix wright doesn’t match up against anyone, and 2. that hyper combo where he kills you by yelling “j’accuse” is fucking hilarious. this game looks like mk vs. dc – mk
Will the Gay Lantern defeat the Flash with a will-powered hand job? Will Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman’s boobs get pressed together? Will Supes and Bats finally relieve all that “tension” between them? Will Solomon Grundy realize that it’s Taco Tuesday at Rubio’s?
Stay tuned true believers!
Eh, so they did *that* kind of Justice League story as a video game. I’d say the “Taking itself too seriously” thing… isn’t to be taken too seriously. I’m thinking of Gabriel Byrne as Lord Byron in Gothic: “Ah, but it was a game… and all the more fun for being played with a straight face.”
