An Edgar Wright Directed Ant-Man Test Reel is a Thing That Exists

Okay, so Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man is totally, sort of, possibly happening! No really, this time we have evidence more conclusive than “some guys in England actually bought some Ant-Man comics“.

It’s been confirmed that Wright shot some Ant-Man test footage around a month ago. The purpose of this footage was to gauge how well Ant-Man’s look and powers translate to the big screen. For those who don’t really know anything about Ant-Man (aka the vast majority of the population) the guy’s big superpower is the ability to change his size — he can shrink to the size of an insect or grow to the size of a building.

There’s no word on how successful the test footage was, but translating Ant-Man’s powers to film is going to be a major challenge. The whole shrinking/growing thing is going to be harder to pull off than say, “super-strength”, “laser-eyes” or “really good at shooting arrows”. There’s also the potential for it all to come off very silly — a guy walking around as tall as a building wearing a bright red ant-themed outfit may invite more snickers than awe.

But hey, even if producers hated the footage, at least something concrete is happening with the project. There’s actually a small amount of Ant-Man footage out there somewhere — every Ant-Man movie related blog post is now totally justified. Whew.
