You might remember Micah Wright from “Stormwatch: Achilles” or “You Back the Attack, We’ll Bomb Who We Want”, a criticism of the Iraq War.
Then it came out Wright had been lying about being an Army Ranger. To be fair, Wright getting booted from the entire industry seemed a little drastic, even if he did dig his own hole by essentially whining to the entire Internet about how it wasn’t fair he was expected to have, like, done the crap he claimed on his resume.
Now he’s back via, what else, a Kickstarter. Specifically a graphic novel about a female cropduster who winds up fighting Nazis in Texas towards the end of World War II called “Duster”. We guess there’s no better way to determine whether you’re forgiven than if people are willing to bet $30 you’ll be able to publish a hardback.
The preview, available on the Kickstarter page, actually looks really good. The writing is solid and the art is great, with hand-drawn speech bubbles and sound effects.
What do you think? Would you buy this book, or should Wright keep away from comics?

As much as I loved Wright’s “Stormwatch: Team Achilles” series, this just isn’t doing it for me. Could it be that Garth Ennis has ruined WWII tales by other writers for me? Also, I don’t like the art. It wouldn’t be a deal-breaker just by itself, but combined with not being won over by the writing either, and I can’t justify giving the project any of my money. Of course, now I want to go back and reread S:TA to see if it was as good as I remember it being.
It looks really similar to Dust.
