OK, so it doesn’t scan with the Justin Timberlake song, but you’ve got to dress up the incredibly obvious somehow.
Marvel has been dropping all kinds of hints that A) somebody’s gonna die in the next issue of Avengers Vs. X-Men and B) they’ve finally decided to chuck their last scrap of respect out the window and bring back Jean Grey. Unless there’s something about that promo art that I’ve missed.
Yes, Marvel has denied they’re bringing back Dark Phoenix quite strenously, but Marvel’s editorial department is more than capable of lying. Besides, we all knew this was going to be the punchline to this series. True, this could simply be Hope, but the last few issues have been turning Hope into the Anti-Phoenix courtesy of Iron Fist’s mentor, and I can’t believe I just wrote that last sentence. So this is probably the corpse of Jean Grey.
Please, please, please let her nuke Cyclops for doing it on her grave.

They shouldn’t kill any character in this waste of space series. Save it for an event that matters.
At the risk of retroactively becoming a virgin even as I type, I feel the need to point out that her husband only screwed his new girlfriend on her grave because her time-travelling ghost mind-controlled him into doing so.
… Not the strangest sentence I’ve ever typed, but up there.
You still have to admit, humping your new S.O. on top of the old S.O.’s grave is ever so slightly tacky.
“Unless there’s something about that promo art that I’ve missed.”
Yeah, the fact that its VERY likely Hope, as the Dark Phoenix, and not Jean Grey.
Do you READ these comics?
Weird, I could swear I wrote “True, this could simply be Hope, but the last few issues have been turning Hope into the Anti-Phoenix courtesy of Iron Fist’s mentor, and I can’t believe I just wrote that last sentence. So this is probably the corpse of Jean Grey.” in the next paragraph.
LOL
This would be awesome. Or would it? I’m just a big Jean Grey fan.
I don’t believe that it’s Jean Grey. They are already bringing back a young Jean Grey into the main universe so that’s probably enough.
If I had to put money down on it, I would wager that it is Hope. There’s probably going to be a two page scene where after beating the last of the Phoenix Five, the Force does possess her, but then either her Iron-Dragon-Whatever training overcomes it, or she sacrifices herself to stop the Phoenix Force ends up being the character that dies.
Either way, this series really has become god awful. The characterization of a lot of the characters and the pacing is just completely out of whack.
Yeah, that’s really what happens when you have SIX guys writing a series.
So this could be like “Yo, we know you like Jean Grey, so we put some Jean Grey intoawww forget it. This joke can’t possibly be as ridiculous as they are with this.
