OK, so we at Gamma Squad had nothing to do with this. But considering how terrible studios tend to be at promoting their re-releases, we thought we’d take the time to let you know that “Raiders of the Lost Ark” will possibly be playing at an IMAX theater near you.
But you’ll have less than a week to catch it.
The re-release is to celebrate Indy coming to Blu-Ray on September 18th. It’s not really clear how many screens it’ll be on, but considering it’s an exclusive weeklong engagement and there’s nothing coming out in IMAX until the next Resident Evil movie is inexplicably released, it’s fairly safe to assume it’ll be on a lot of screens.
If that’s not enough for you, AMC Theaters will be running a marathon of all four movies September 15th. Fortunately, that’s a Saturday.

On one hand, awesome. On the other…yeah, every time I think of Indiana Jones now I pretty much think of “The Chinese Problem” so I’m not sure if I could handle seeing it in IMAX.
I saw a beat up print of “Raiders” a couple years back in L.A. and I’ve never seen a crowd so excited to be at the theater–not through Star Wars, LotR, Matrix, even kids at a Disney film. The response of the audience was genuine and surprisingly appropriate (no one was barking the dialogue, people stifled laughter or cheers quickly as to not talk over the next character’s line).
Seriously, I’ve seen nearly every great movie made in my lifetime in a crowded theater, and nothing beats “Raiders”. I’m in.
Best part of the “watch all four” marathon is they save the worst for skippable last!
Damn straight. Need a break after three films? Let’s all go to the lobby!
