Happy Tolkien Week! Here's The First Look At Radagast the Brown in 'The Hobbit'

It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.

Happy Tolkien Week, everyone. Break out the pipe-weed for the anniversary of The Hobbit‘s first printing, which was published 75 years ago as of this Friday. Warner and Peter Jackson are releasing new stuff from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey to celebrate. Today we have eight new pictures courtesy of USA Today (via Bleeding Cool).

The pictures include characters we’ve seen in previous picture releases, like Gandalf, Bilbo, Gollum, Thorin Oakenshield, and the other dwarves. What sets these photos apart is the picture above. That’s our first look at Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor from Doctor Who) playing Radagast the Brown. He’s the wizard who unintentionally helped Saruman capture Gandalf in The Fellowship of the Ring and then unintentionally helped him escape. We’ve heard he also unintentionally earned the nickname “the Brown” after a Chipotle burrito eating contest. Just what we heard.

Anybody else think Gollum looks a bit like Puss In Boots here?

Awww, let him have the ring.
