Jamie Colliver is a man who loves two games: LittleBigPlanet 2 and Final Fantasy VII. So he recreated the latter inside the former.
We’re not talking about a fun little costume, or a tribute platforming level.
We’re talking about the whole game.
Don’t believe me? Here’s the first thirty minutes of about two hours of YouTube footage Colliver has posted.
Literally everything is here, built from the ground up, from the combat system to the conversations to the boss fights. Even the music was recomposed, from the ground up, and if you listen closely, the tracks are very close to the original soundtrack. This took Colliver six months, and spans twenty levels.
Why? Because he loves the game, pretty much. Granted that it’s not entirely perfect, and it’s unlikely to be allowed to exist for very long once Square Enix gets a load of it, but we bring it up for two reasons:
One, it’s absolutely amazing that he was able to put this together, especially inside another game.
Two, he did it with commercially available tools. Seriously, this guy recreated an epic in six months using a game you can get for twenty bucks at Target.
I think we’re officially not allowed to complain about games not existing anymore.

I’m not sure whether to cry when you know who does you know what to the other you know who, or call it adorable.
A friend of mine said it was like watching puppies re-enact the My Lai massacre.
well, at least this guy isn’t out murdering people. but… jesus christ. at some point just learn how to make actual games.
… When somebody uses a toolset to recreate a PSOne era combat system, I think he’s above that level of reproach.
Have you actually played this?
There is barely any form of battle system.
The soundtrack, is a compilation of previously released songs made available to the community.. Which were made by various other creators
There are plenty of better FF7 levels created inside LBP2 than this. Also real RPG turn based games have been created too. This is no where near the quality of those.
I suggest these media sites actually research a litte more into Little Big Planet, before publishing an article about a level that was brought to their attention by the level’s creator.
It’s shocking that this has gotten coverage, yet there are absoloutly stunning levels in LBP2, that make this look awful. If you have ever played LBP2 you will actually understand how unimpressive this is.
