In July, Michael Fassbender signed with Ubisoft to star in and co-produce the first film in the gaming company’s Assassin’s Creed franchise. At the time, Ubisoft didn’t have a deal with any movie studio, but were looking to cast Fassbender to play Altair and set up the movie well enough that it could lead to sequels, unlike Ubisoft’s Prince Of Persia which didn’t make enough money to start a movie franchise.
Now Ubisoft has reached a deal with New Regency to finance the film and distribute it through 20th Century Fox. The rumor is that they are planning to have the script, director, and the rest of the cast ready to start shooting next summer. Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed III will be in stores next Tuesday, and we have this Assassin’s Creed fan film by Corridor Digital to enjoy until this movie (hopefully) gets made.
Now I’ll just have to imagine Michael Fassbender as Conner in the fan film below. I’ll let you guess if I’m thinking of X-Men Fassbender, Prometheus Fassbender, Shame Fassbender, or some kind of captivating hybrid consisting of a naked, horse-hung android seeking magnet-based vengeance. I think you know which option is the right choice.

Even without a studio deal in place, I think Fassbender could have probably found a way to raise all the funds needed to finance the himself very quickly, amirite ladies?
Something something dick joke
Man I hope this turns out good. The AC franchise is one of my favorite.
That said, would Fassbender being playing Altair? One report I read stated that Ubisoft wanted the movie to coincide with a new AC game. If that’s true, that would mean the movie is lined up for release around either AC4 or a AC3 spinoff and going back to Altair’s story wouldn’t make a ton of sense,
Oh well, regardless, I’m tentatively excited. I really like that Ubisoft has a majority of the creative input on the project. That should at least save the movie from being Uwe Boll’d. It’s also nice to see that they got a really respected actor that makes sense in the roll.
BTW, that live action AC3 movie was great up until they decided to play In Da Club by 50 Cent at the end. smh
As long as Kevin Bacon isn’t also cast, because then this movie might as well just be called Penis: The Movie.
Billy Crudup was also rumored for a role in Penis: The Movie
I heard that Bobby Cannavale was cast as the villain in “Penis: The Movie”
The original plan was to team Cannavale with Viggo “Bathhouse” Mortenson
And Harvey Keitel was cast as the mentor for both of them.
That Fassbender, always stabbing things…
