So, turns out Resident Evil 6 is pretty mediocre, but don’t worry — a grim, zombie-less holiday season doesn’t have to be in your future. If you manage to get your hands on a WiiU, you can play ZombiU, which actually looks surprisingly good!
What sets ZombiU apart is that it’s one of the very few (maybe the only) zombie games to actually play by zombie movie rules. That is, if you’re bit, you’re done. You start over with a new character and try the stage again — except now your old character is roaming the stage as a zombie as well. The game doesn’t just get by on innovation though — it also looks surprisingly scary.

Here’s a nice chunk of gameplay without the talking heads…
Hey Capcom, how’s it feel to be zombie schooled by a team that usually works on Rayman and Raving Rabbids games?

Props for some realism I guess, kinda took them years to catch up with the rest of the gaming world, but the giant pad-controller still looks ridiculous, and has to be annoying, due to constantly having to look down at it – What is up with Nintendo and dual screens anyways?. I think I see a little bit of L4D/2 in there as well.
There’s a Left 4 Dead-ish multiplayer mode in it too.
Yeah, I’m pretty damn excited about this game. And like the guy was saying, I really like the potential added tension of having to look away from the screen down to the gamepad. And the death system is pretty cool as well. Story seems pretty ho-hum, but maybe it’ll turn out to be interesting when I actually play it.
I gotta admit: I’ve been really skeptical about the WiiU, but those videos actually impressed me. Scary, well-made. The only question I have is whether its challenges will be from realism or cheap tactics. Like the flashlight flickering or going out when there’s a zombie in the room; that seems like a cheap scare rather than a fair shot.
I do agree with that, the flashlight flickering was bullshit.
Am I the only one who thinks this looks like Day Z with gimmick’d controlls?
Probably, because I doubt anyone else has played Day Z.
