I've been playing Assassin's Creed III, like everyone else, and I'll have a review for you later this week. So far, though, if you like Assassin's Creed, you'll like this game.
That said, here's some of the more amusing stuff going around, either paying tribute or poking a little fun at Ubisoft's massive franchise.
Courtesy our friends at Smosh.com, Robo featured this as his lead link yesterday, but it's really worth a close look, both for the fact that they nail the trailer fairly well, and also because it pretty much sums up the game.
One of the problems the game has, even after the patch, is that at high notoriety enemies endlessly respawn (there are other AI issues as well; get in front of a general and then walk reasonably far away, and you'll see what I mean). So, uh, this can happen:

At a certain point in the game, especially if you haven't installed the patch, somewhat anachronistic NPCs will start appearing. I've seen this guy a lot, so thanks to his hat, I've dubbed him Burgess Meredith.

I actually prefer Taylor Davis' cover of the main theme to the official version:
This is pretty much obligatory, really:

This is an official statue that Ubisoft sent out to a few companies:

So far I’ve been really digging AC3. The changes they made to the controls with regards to fighting was pretty jarring from the past 4 entries in the series, so the re-learning curve takes a bit to get used to. It is a more fluid fight system then in any of the other games in the series though, so it’s a good chance. Also, the story so far is much more engaging than any of the others.
Also, the beginning of the game is admittedly slow, but it’s got a great payoff that makes the deliberate pacing well worthwhile.
There are little glitches here and there, I’ve seen two or three NPC people just disappear for no good reason, one horse was tweaking because of how it was standing, that kind of stuff. Nothing game breaking or as bad as some of the reviewers have been saying imo. I also don’t find the climbable tree limbs as wildly artificial as some of the reviewers have been complaining. Granted, you can tell what are usable limbs and what aren’t, but it’s not all that distracting imo.
I get why the opening takes forever: It’s an extended tutorial. I think the controls are still relatively clunky (why, oh why, do I still have to hold R2 to run/climb?!) and my big problem with the game really is that the side stuff is far more fun and engaging than the actual main missions.
