The first Grand Theft Auto V trailer focused on ex-bank robber Michael and just how pretty Rockstar’s latest virtual sandbox is going to be. Now, after over a year, the second trailer is finally here and it introduces the game’s other two main characters — psychotic, drug addicted Trevor and repo man hoping for better things Franklin. It also gives us a taste of GTA V‘s slightly wacky, deranged buddy comedy vibe. Looks like GTA V is taking at least a little bit of inspiration from competitors like the Saint’s Row series and cutting back on some of the self-seriousness of GTA IV.

So, I guess this one’s happening more or less in the current day? The clothes and cars would indicate that, but that damn Stevie Wonder song makes everything scream THE NINETEEN EIGHTIES in capital letters.
Oh, and since it’s been a while, here’s the first GTA V trailer again…
I’ll admit, I’ve grown a bit weary of sandbox games in recent years, but this looks pretty damn rad. What do you folks think?

I have to admit, the trailer got me no less than twice. “We’re bouncing now?” and “Your therapist has a lot to answer for.” If the entire game is like that, we’ve got a winner.
Trevor looks like the real MVP of this game — I’ve never been so eager to play as a balding middle-aged sociopath.
Wow, I’m amazed how much I’m loving this. Maybe it was the music, but it gave me the same game boner I had the first time I saw a trailer for Vice City. With the group of main characters, it also feels like you’re getting a set of stories rather than just one, and it seems to take from other main characters in past GTA games. Also: “We’re bouncing now?” Fantastic.
Damn Rockstar is going to make me have some human emotions for the main protagonist again then kill’em off aren’t they.
I really hope the whole switching between 3 characters means I can avoid having to go bowling with fuckin Brucie every five minutes so he doesnt get all pissy but the trailer looks amazing.
Supposedly they dropped that because everyone hated it.

Are these new character or is that supposed to be Carl Johnson and Tommy Versetti? Cause if that’s supposed to be CJ and Tommy, I’m kind of getting a warm feeling inside like I helped Tommy get to that place.
Sorry to kill your warm feeling, but they’re new characters: According to Rockstar, GTAIV and V take place in a separate universe.
