It's time once again for our Friday comics cosplay feature, casting the spotlight on the best comics related costumery from the cosplay community. We're focusing on those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and also the photographers who capture them for posterity.
This week we're featuring some awesome cosplay of Ant-man, Yellowjacket, Power Girl, Gambit, Big Barda, Peggy Carter, Captain America, Zatanna, Mystique, Mr. Freeze, Pixie, John Stewart and more!
Gamma Squad is committed to giving a voice to the cosplay community that thrives in communities like our friends at TheSuperheroCostumingForum.com. Each week we aim to spotlight our favorite costumes and, in addition, we also host a regular cosplay contest, with the results forming a special theme week. We invite all cosplayers, costumers and photographers to submit pictures of their work that relates to the theme (or any cosplay in general!) to our Flickr group to be considered. We’ll then pick our top choices and post them on Gamma Squad for the adoration of all.
Our current theme is:
- The Comic Book Stars of the 90s!
For now, enjoy this week's selection!

Am I the only on that wonders if Ant Man might be Taran Killim.
That black dude looks a LOT like John Stewart but the costume itself looks awful.
Am I the only one that thinks it’s kinda raycess to assume that guy was going for John Stewart?
I’m betting a white cosplayer would automatically be assumed to NOT be John Stewart. So I guess that’s bad too?
Actually as soon as I posted that I saw he had John Stewart’s upside-down triangle green on his torso and felt stupid.
Haha, yeah, there is that. I’m not even saying he looks like John Stewart because he’s black, though that certainly goes a long way. He genuinely is the spitting image of like every drawn version of John Stewart: bald, stern expression, a pronounced facial structure.
Back in my day, a geek site like this knew the difference between Ant Man and Giant Man.
Yeah, that’s Giant-Man not Ant-Man. There’s no explanation for why he has those dopey antennae things on his cowl, but so be it.
